Tabby: pilot, invite-only
A budgeted search-and-notify helper for hard apartment hunts, starting in New York City. You set a budget and your must-haves; Tabby checks the listings you send it and shows you the ones that fit, each with an Apply and a Pass button.
How it works
- Set a budget and must-haves. A hunt budget ($25 to $200 in the pilot) plus hard requirements: max rent, bedrooms, boroughs, pets, deal-breakers.
- Send Tabby your listings. Forward or paste the listing alerts and links you already get. Tabby reads only what you give it. It does not crawl or scrape listing sites.
- Tabby checks each one. Listings that miss a must-have are dropped. For the rest, Tabby looks up public NYC HPD building registration and housing-maintenance violation records and flags signs that a listing may be stale or a scam. Each check is counted against your budget at the price shown, and the hunt stops at your cap.
- You decide: Apply or Pass. Each match comes with the reasons it fits and any flags.
- Applications are yours to send. Apply opens a review screen that shows exactly which details would be shared. Tabby then gives you an email draft to send yourself, or a pre-filled packet to submit on the listing's own site. Nothing is sent without your confirmation.
What the pilot is, and isn't
- Invite-only: 3 to 5 testers, NYC only. Features may change or stop while we learn.
- No live checkout. Any payment testing in the pilot uses Stripe test mode, so no real money moves.
- Tabby is not a broker or real-estate agent. It does not negotiate, and it cannot promise you a listing or an approval.
- Tabby has no partnership with any listing site.
- Tabby never asks for or stores Social Security, bank account or card numbers. Your profile is encrypted at rest.
Fair Housing
Tabby searches, filters and ranks on features of the home only: price, size, location, pets, amenities, and accessibility features you ask for yourself. It does not filter, rank or describe listings or people by race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, familial status (including children), disability, age, source of income, or any other characteristic protected by federal, New York State or New York City law. Requests that do are refused, and refusals are logged for review.
This describes how Tabby works. It is not legal advice.
